Aquarium Pet Store

I read many blogs, forums (including Yahoo Answers), and sections infomerial the trash local fish (PET) records as a source of information and assistance Aquarium. This, in my opinion is unfair because there are many specialty stores and employees who enjoy the hobby and I really want to see the best for your aquarium (or pond).
Even stores such as Petsmart or PetsCo which are often noted for the poor advice will often have an employee who really knows his or her own stuff (although these good people often can not stay long). However, if you received good service and advice, your local aquarium shop is worth supporting in the major chains (including Wal-Mart)

You have to ask around when seeking a good store, know the owners and / or employees. Keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes and just because you got a fish or a bad bad advice does not mean you should immediately that particular store.

Want to find a store that is open and non-dogmatic about everything they say, always open to new ideas. Also be careful of stores that can push one manufacturer of product line rather than lead the best of all manufacturers. The rough does not prove a store hurt either because they can purchase restrictions or other factors that go into this. However, I personally tried to resist buying a full line manufacturer just to get better discounts (many companies Hagen Tetra offer these discounts either directly or through distributors such as Central Garden & PET) . I mentioned Hagen and Tetra expamples two companies that make good products (more Hagen), but also dogs "too.

Personally, I never tried to be everything to everyone in my previous EPA and Aquarium maintenance company or my online courses Aquarium products in store, I always tried to sell what I 'I personally believe in the use and filters have often suggested DIY, lighting and others. In my aquarium information and help section I often many suggestions, such as for marine products or methods I have nothing to sell. There is much good that the EPA are the same and honestly tell you when they can not help you and send you in the right direction for those who can.

more than many metropolitan areas have many good stores to choose, while, unfortunately, many small communities (such as Grants Pass, where I live now) often may have only one or two stores and in my community, they are all two stores very poor aquarium with bad advice and Out of print supplies of poor quality.
Back in the San Gabriel Valley Los Angeles County (where I am in business for 28 years) there are more choices (like Pasadena tropical fish). I'm sure many other major cities are the same and perhaps some small where the "alumni network" is not as strong with excellent shops and aquarium.
