As we age there are a number of conditions that we can begin to address - for many men, is the constant feeling of having to go to the toilet. The problem is caused by an enlarged prostate, a gland that is part of the urinary system for men, below the bladder and surrounds the tube that allows urine to drain from the bladder.

"This problem may develop gradually as men age, their prostate gland grows and shrinks the tube output of urine," said Josee Fortin, naturopath approved. "It becomes more difficult to empty the bladder at a time, hence the need for frequent urination and dribbling after urination.

Half of men over 50 develop the problem to some extent, known as benign prostate or BPH. There are a number of drugs available to treat BPH, but many men find their cause side effects that make them sick.

A natural response is raised in a small bay in Florida that has been used for hundreds of years by the indigenous population to alleviate the problems of men - Saw Palmetto. The oil in the bay contains free fatty acids have been shown to prevent adverse hormonal prostate and reduce inflammation.

It is also important for men to monitor their diet by reducing saturated fats - found in red meat, dairy products and processed foods are most - and tea and coffee consumption limit. Extra minerals and fatty acids from pumpkin seeds may also help (alone or try them on breakfast cereals), with a general multivitamin and mineral supplements.
