Caring for your kitten Kittens are cute, there is no denying that, but as you probably guessed, there are many more of them than just looking at them and tell them how they are adorable. In reality, you will need to ensure they get the exercise they need, and good nutrition. Fortunately, you can kill two birds with one stone in this regard.
Firstly, you can not give a kitten food for adult cats. There are many foods is specifically formulated for kittens, if you must be careful not to buy the cheapest food you can. You'll probably need to visit the vet to find out which foods are appropriate for your kitten. Yes, any food past work, but in the same sense that you could probably survive for a good ten years eating nothing but ramen noodles. Would you? Probably not. The fact is, the kittens do not have the same choice of food we have, as such, we must ensure that we choose the best for them.
After nine months, you discover that your kitten grows, it will at that time you will need to start feeding adult in the mix with their food for kittens. For the first two days, provide food for kittens from 75% and 25% of adult food. For the next two days, make it 50/50, and the seventh day, moving entirely to adult feeding. Doing things this way they can get used to the food without causing a major shock to their system.
Now we address the question of the exercise. If you must feed your kitten outright majority of the time, there will be times when it is safer to let them play with their food. In nature, the kittens have a natural instinct to seek food, and when they are domesticated, they begin to lose. Despite this good, they still have the urge to hunt for food is a need that must be satisfied at some point in time.
There are some kitten toys you can buy something that can be loaded with food. The kitten will be able to obtain said food, but they will work. This will satisfy their need to hunt and find food in nature, while keeping the security of your own home. Generally, these toys will come in the form of a ball, where the food will be provided by a small opening once the kitten been handled enough.
The food is easy to keep them busy in other ways may be a bigger problem. Make sure you buy your kitten a scratching post. It is no secret that cats love to scratch, similar to how you need to stretch or pop your joints in a given time. There are many other toys you could get for them too. Some of these might include climbing trees, playing kitten, and things in general to rise. If all else fails, a nice ball son and a few sofas to climb never hurt.
These are some of the basic methods to keep your cat healthy. Ask your veterinarian for more information and remember there is always more to learn. Good luck and enjoy your kitty!
