I have a lab who wanders around the house while we went and I just bought a new bird. I can not lock up my dog, any suggestions?

Until the dog and the bird know each other you can not keep them in the same room while your party. I suggest you keep them around eachother while your in the same room. See how they react to each other once or twice before letting them on their own. Even then, keep your bird cage closed and high when your dog can not reach.
