Boa Cages

Boa CagesCan you put Repti-sand in a cage-tailed Boa Red?

I have a beautiful baby boa constrictor new red-tailed, and it goes very well in the two weeks that I had. But she likes to dig under the aspen shavings and dragged underneath there, and you never get to see. Would it be alright if I put a kind of sand or sand Repti in the cage instead of aspen chips? Keep in mind, I understand that this is not a sand boa, but she does every day. It is either in water or under the chips. What should I do?

I wouldnt use sand not good for the digestive system, getting the grass or something wrong Elce who cannot chew it (i used paper towels for my python, but recently changed to look shaveings)

I do not want. Let him hide. thats what they do in nature. If you remove it will surely be his stress, to the point where it ceases to eat and die most likely. Constrictors of predators are ambushed and very private. They need to hide to survive. especially in captivity. give him time to get used to you and its housing and sooner or later it will make more appearances. just be quiet and give him time. it out of its hiding place in its own little time. Not leave your snakeskin is the same as not to allow a fish to water. the result would be the same. You can post a separate tub, the size of it depends on the size of your snake, lots of chips with a heating pad under the tank so she could hide. Stick with well logs. they are the only thing I use in all my pregnant snakes. They are cheap, easy to remove, and very sterile. I use them in more than 180 envelopes snake, mostly poisonous and have no difficulty at all. do not force.

Good is the second request before acting.

ps Ball pythons are arboreal. (Living in the trees) red tails are terrestrial (live and on the ground).

I agree with the person who said the fake grass. Several pieces of fake grass that can be rotated and cleaned is the only option I would exercise other than newspapers. The Daily is and should always be your first choice. The Daily is easy, clean, cheap and is the first choice of 99% of reptile experts. The only weakness is that it does not look all attractive, but health comes first.

I would not do it. The boa is not able to get the moisture it needs. He may be trying to get to the source of heat, if you have an under tank heater. My ball used to hide under the carpet reptiles to move closer to the heat source. When I increased the power of the bulb, and adjusted the heat in the tank, it stopped. Check the heat in the enclosure. Use a digital thermometer with a probe to obtain the most accurate level.
