Help! What laws of feral cats in IL? Animal Control is causing me much grief! They tell me since I leave food and TNR that I have all the cats.
According to the Public Health and Safety Illinois Pet Population Control Act (the Act), enacted in August 2005.
caregivers wildcats do not own and can 'TBE liable for cats.
Does anyone know if a new law was passed that no one?
Sec. 2.16. "Owner" means any person having a right
ownership of an animal or who keeps or harbors an animal or
who has custody, or acting as custodian, or
knowingly permits a dog to remain on premises occupied by
him or her. "Owner" does not include a guardian of wild cats
participating in a trap-neuter, return or release
program.
As far as I know, this law is still in force. Are you sure that you are considered a keeper of feral cats? Is animal control have evidence that you participate in a trap and release program? Animal Control could be wrong and exceeding their limits for some reason. Check Knoll v. City of Oneonta.
