problem of hydrogen sulfide? I had a tank in a gallon Diana Walstad 30 and added potting soil with some sand over it and im having a lot of hydrogen sulfide emerging from the ground continuously. I added the trumpet snails to help release the gas, but still having ups the massive construction of it I have a bubbler running and a filter for oxygenated water flow towards the ground to reduce anaerobic bacteria, but still having a lot of gas in the ground What do I do? or it will eventually disappear?
All my tanks are set up with the method Walstad and I can tell you now that will not disappear. The reason is because you used the sand as a top layer of gravel instead. Big no-no! Therefore, the sand is often looked down with this type of standard configuration and why it is recommended that gravel.
A small gravel lot would be better to use if you want it to stop, the best thing for you is to remove your tank and do it again, but use gravel instead of sand. I know it would be a pain to tear everything down, but in the long run is the best thing to do.
Add 1 tablespoon Tea potassium chloride in the water tank and agitate for 5 minutes each day.
