Finches: Tips for proper care Finches make good companions. These are truly beautiful birds, and they can live for many years until they are properly looked after. As a responsible owner of company, it is your duty to do everything possible to ensure the health of your Finch and happiness. - The first thing you need to do is buy a bird cage for your Finch. This should be a big metal cage that will give your Finch lot of space to roam around in. You will find a large selection of bird cages in your local pet store, then ask a sales associate if you are unsure .
- To fill the bird cage, you'll need to buy cuttlebone for your Finch. You can get it at any local store for pets. You then remove the hard shell of the cuttlebone. Then use a piece of string to attach to the inside of the cage for your Finch can be reached easily.
- You'll also need to provide your bird cage with lots of perches and toys for him busy and stimulated when you're not there to keep company.
- You should also be aware of mites and insect pests that could harm you Finch. Protect it by hanging a protector of birds outside the cage.
- When feeding your Finch, make sure their diet contains a mixture of white millet, oats, hulled and Canary grass seed. This helps keep happy and healthy.
- Make sure you give your own Finch freshwater daily.
- Always clean your Finch's cage once a week with soap and non-toxic hot water. A dirty cage can have serious consequences for the health of your bird if you're not careful.
- Play with your daily Finch. They need interaction and love.
