Does anyone know anything about African gecko claws? I need information on Africa gecko claws, I can not find anything on the net, I think they are in the same family as the leopard so that they are relatively the same?
africanus Holodactylus, I know exactly what species you mention. Not very popular with fans for many reasons, mainly because of the difficulty to feed and their inability to acclimate and captivity. In nature, they are essentially eating termites, and many captive owners to feed them with broken legs crickets that they have placed in the refrigerator for a few minutes before hand, this method alone is what it takes to convince them to eat something other than termites. Some will wax worms. They are also very susceptible to dehydration.
They are related to Leos, but their environment and habits are different. They prefer to burrow and sand substrate coir / about 3''de depth kept just moist enough to open their tunnels. They need a box humitidy as Leo, and the enclosure must be sprayed 2-3 times a day, unless you set up a mechanical system (usually custom built).
Besides talking with friends, there is very little information on this lizard cute now. I heard that Larry Boyle had successful keeping and breeding African gecko claws and beat up would not be a bad idea larry@timtytle.com
Good luck!
