Is Oxbow Rabbit Food, health, good food? I feed my rabbit the shit stuff and found out it is the worst thing and that Oxbow is supposed to be in good health? Is this true and is it expensive, how long does it last?
Oxbow is made with timothy, other brands are made with alfalfa. Oxbow is a food fine for non-breeding adult rabbits that live indoors. It is not suited to the youth culture, breeding, or for animals that are outdoors or at low temperature.
It's expensive, but I'm not sure of current cost. How long it lasts depends on the size of a bag and you get the size of your rabbit. Most rabbits do a little race / 2-3 / 4 cup (2-3 oz) per day.
Unless your rabbit has a specific problem with alfalfa (such as stones from the bladder), there is really no reason to feed Oxbow. You and your rabbit is just as good with a feedstore brands (store brands for pets are usually bad, and never use a colored wire with "bits" in it).
Personally, I recommend Purina Rabbit Chow Complete - great stuff, it helped my rabbits get the best of many awards Breed.
Heinhold is a good brand, as Correspondents. Manna Pro is good, as well as Kent.
Honestly I go to a grocery store and buy in bulk Martins, if your rabbits are outdoor urine odor does not bother you, and if you keep them clean inside they are beautiful, j 'I also food rich in fresh fruits, vegetables and greens green, my last rabbit past 9 years and a few others lived 10-15 years before any scheme alone, so you offer them more alternatives nutrients your rabbit should be clear on what you choose to feed them.
I'm sure I'll be dismissed for that: P But the rabbit farm, even those used for reproduction tend to live a long happy life in good health and they do not exactly spend a fortune on high quality food rabbit!
Why feed your rabbit commercial, processed foods at all? Their coats are softer and more healthy food on the nature intended for them - their hay in abundance, dark green material in the variety of greens (coriander, parsley, mustard greens and lettuce dark). If they have the variety in all their needs for vitamins and minerals will be met. Trafficking of an apple slice, slice of banana, a strawberry, a Brussels sprouts - you will find that your bread likes best. A rabbit needs only one Tbl. pellets per day.
commercial pellets have some vitamins and minerals and they are also great appetite appeal by the manufacturers. Do not play into their game they can be fattening and unhealthy for your bread as a mainstay of their diet.
I agree with Ann B. I tend to like dietary fiber Purina 3. Heinold is also a very good rabbit pellet and Manna Pro doe so. Some other names are good food for rabbits Show Rite, nutrition, Kent, and Buckeye.
Feeds that advertising vegetables in the carrot, like, so you want to avoid. Rabbit feeds on alfalfa that have in them are perfectly fine as long as your rabbit does not have a history of kidney stones. The high protein content of alfalfa is totally fine. It's just that alfalfa tends to be high in calcium on rabbits have an old history of problems with kidney stones or bladder should be avoided.
I do not recommend the rabbit food pellets under 15% crude protein and less than 17% crude fiber. Some people put rabbit droppings, because they are processed. But the reality is that most commercial rabbit pellets are very good quality and provide the rabbit with a balanced diet. They ensure that the rabbit gets enough protein, not enough fiber, minerals and vitamins sufficient enough and the mixture is properly balanced.
A rabbit should get at least 12% crude protein in her diet and at least about 17% of crude fiber in their diet. With basically all the vegetables, they contain water about 90% ..
