Racehorse Rescue? I am an intermediate rider back and have been riding for 6 years. I am looking for a horse this spring and I'm really interested in adopting a horse racing thoroughbre retirement, weather the horse has recovered from an injury or simply to slow / old to race. I read on the race of thoroughbreds and know the dunes. I'm just looking for a horse craft. But not all the pure-blood is your flesh creep, the right horse racing fickle? I would appreciate advice from the owners of this breed and especially those who have adopted racehores retirement. Thank you.

You're right, all thoroughbreds are flighty and spooky, but many - especially those who have spent much time on the racetrack.
I mounted the ex-racehorses and to be honest how they beahve is down to two things - how they were recycled and their temperament.
Charities rehabilitation of racehorses here in the UK will assess your riding skills for the horses they have available for repatriation. They look you up and then try their best to match you with a horse that suits you and your needs.
All horses, regardless of their race, have the potential to be flighty and spooky, do not reject a thoroughbred, without careful thought. You could have a lot of fun!
Good luck.
usually older geldings are quiet and not a problem many horses pony you see on the runways are thoroughbreds
Get a good coach you trust, and start searching and be honest. If you do not like the horse to pass. There will be another. I had ex-racehorses, and most horses are pleasure fine. You need a good coach and a good feeling on the horse.
