Toy Fish AquariumAquarium Supplies Part 1 - My first experience with Bettas

Keeping fish as pets has more than to feed and change the water every once in awhile. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of that and they just buy aquarium fish because they are attractive. After a short time, the beginning of fish get sick and die one after another, and the newbie would lose interest and passion to give him all together.

Basic knowledge of the aquarium and aquarium supplies right is crucial for the survival and longevity of your fish. It is important to maintain optimal living conditions for fish and other creatures that you can have in your tank if you enjoy it for long.

To illustrate this, I'll share with you my own experience when I started with this hobby for the first time as a child. The first experience was with bettas and the second with goldfish, two different species of fish have different requirements.

My first pet fish were a pair of bettas (one male and one female) which my mom bought me because she knew I liked fish and felt sorry for me because a toy fish was all that I.

We put the bettas in a small plastic jar with a floating live plant. The male is aggressive. He still chased after the female and his attack until it is full of bruises. One night, running out of room to hide, the female desperately jumped out of the water on the floor. Fortunately I was nearby and managed to save her.

My mother then suggested that we separate the fish. So we put the female in a different jar. However, I felt that the female was isolated. Then one day I asked my mother if I could buy another fish. There was a beautiful male betta green that I decided to buy.

At that time I did not know that bettas are fighting fish and the males fight among themselves. So first, I decided to put the new male in the same container as the first man. I knew that the first man was aggressive and I wondered how he would react toward another male.

To my amazement the two men fought with each other and there was no sign they would stop. After a moment, I am worried. I do not want one of them to die, so I finally separates them and put the new male with the female, and to my surprise, they got along very well.

However, this potty was a kind of small for a pair of fish although they got along. So we decided to move the fish to a plastic container much bigger. Later I added a few other women so she became a sort of community tank betta.

Being fascinated by the beauty of male bettas, I bought a couple more and put each in individual pots. I feed dry food and sometimes bread. However, I feed them too. The water would quickly become cloudy from fish waste and uneaten food. So I completely changed the water every two days. I would like to fill the pot with new water straight from the tap.

As you might guess, the fish did not last very long. After only a few months they started to get sick and possibly the one after the other died.

Dirty water, untreated water from new, fluctuating water temperatures, and the trauma of being moved frequently when water changes were some of the factors that contributed to the low resistance of fish disease.

Even if it is acceptable to keep bettas in relatively small containers without aeration, it would be much better to put them in a tank of at least 2 gallons, you would still need to observe certain basic things like not not feed too much and cancellations to balance the new water temperature and remove chlorine before the water changes.

I was only 10 years old at the time and know nothing of the aquarium. Nor did my mother. Also, at that time there were very few books on aquarium fish and aquarium supplies were.
