What is a good brand western saddle used for hiking? I have many years of experience in English riding sport horse disciplines, but have no experience of the West. I know that buying a good quality used saddle is much better than buying a new, less expensive saddle. Can anyone tell me some good brands? I try not to spend over $ 300.00, but I do not mind the age of the saddle as long as it sound.
Billy Cook is good but the only facts in Oklahoma, if they were made in Greenville Texas they were made after being taken over if they are not near the same quality. (I have 2 OKC is a saddle and barrel cut flat seat saddle and barrel ... I hate Texas) Oklahoma (Billy Cook barrel saddle I was riding my favorite ever and I have over 25 western saddles )
TexTan comfortable saddles are good could be a bit out of price range though.
Circle Y all their saddles are very good. they can be expensive, but you should be able to find one for your price. (A circle of saddle and western saddle barrel will love them)
Boxes are really nice saddles may be inexpensive. (I have two that I ride most is a cup flat seat as I drive my little Reiner and the only complaint I have is that it's a slick seat so I tend to drag our sliding stops lol.
*** Also try to go to an auction of horses most of them sell stool right before selling horses and is a good way to get advice on a seat and view a variety
Hope I helped :-)
Billy Cook saddles are impressive.
