Western Bits bits of the West?

Ok, so I'm English runner ... so I use little ad for my horse ring ... and a bit for my dressage horses and I was just curious as to how western bit of work ...
I came across this question in another
http://www.rods.com/p/504, 231_Pinchless-...
see little sharp in the middle ... Would you be forced to the roof of the mouth of the horses pulling the reigns ... and if so OUCH I mean how is it effective ... and if you pull too hard you couldnt kill the horse by puncturing the soft palette ... i may be ignorant ... I've never done western riding and I had some answers ... and some examples of bit milder and more severe ... and what they are used to ...
Thank you for these responses educated ...

The little that you picture a "correction" bits and should be used by someone who really knows what they are doing. And yes a horse can seriously injure themselves by using this small and others like them and I think they should be banned.

BTW I ride Western and can not imagine a situation where I would put such a thing in my horse's mouth. Neither ever. If you need to use equipment like this to control your horse or make him put his head where you want, you should find another hobby.

EVERYTHING and I mean few of them can be poisonous to a horse's mouth. Some pieces are very cruel, but little can be cruel in the wrong hands. I am a rider from the West, but I ride with a little popular English, jaw eggbutt. You must understand that most riders want quick solutions rather than taking the time to understand exactly what their horse throwing his head around or jerk or just panic. They want their horse to submit and give in, do not work with them on a beautiful plain itself.

This is not a hard bit.I'm not sure what type of bit I use I think I used a bit, I will ask my instructor next time I go riding.

They are difficult and should only be used by the softer the lightest of hands. The trick with the pleasure of the West is the horse is expected to show with their heads together perfectly without contact with the flange. They must also seek balenced and collected. Being a dressage rider you know it is essentially impossible. Well, these bits are then meant that the slightest movement and pressure will cause the horse to lower his head and move forward. This can take the reins loose and control because the driver did not move his hand much for the horse that he must correct. That is the purpose of these bits. I ride Western, but use a bit in practice and not worn a hole to show. It is part of the word pleasure Westen. Changes must be made to enable people to ride properly and if the horse is safe and have fun.

I posted this quick!

lol and you just have to be very gentle on your hands with this little ......
you can not shoot and aggrissive too!

This bit is Mainy slow the horse down and get a good headset ...

Hope this helps!

I felt the same way you did when I saw this little .... but I understand now

ugh, do not use all bits. there are many western hackamores there, including the Bosal. I included a link for you. It will give you pictures and everything:)

As mentioned previously, the bits of the West are used differently bit English, which explains their design.

When you work with horses English and Western, we often have the habit of using the bit of Tom Thumb:
